Because chlorine is difficult to dissolve in water, while sodium hypochlorite is in ionic state, it can be 100% dissolved in water at low concentration. According to previous project experience and laboratory data, under the condition of obtaining the same residual chlorine value, the chlorine dosage of sodium hypochlorite solution relative to chlorine is 1:1.3. Therefore, when the original disinfection process of the water plant uses 2ppm for chlorine disinfection, the sodium hypochlorite solution only needs: 2 ÷ 1.3=1.54ppm
Therefore, using sodium hypochlorite solution to add chlorine can save more than 20% of the amount of chlorine. According to the tracking experience and laboratory data of the water plant disinfection project, sodium hypochlorite has better continuous disinfection ability than chlorine, which is very beneficial to the water plant with long water supply pipeline network.
Compared with chlorine, sodium hypochlorite will not react like chlorine reacts with water to produce hydrochloric acid, which will corrode water transmission metal pipelines, especially water plants with long water supply pipelines. It is required that the residual chlorine value of drinking water should be more than 0.5ppm or even 0.8ppm.
Take the reconstruction of a water plant as an example (compared with commercial sodium hypochlorite liquid)
